James “Jim” Howard Bevan

James “Jim” Howard Bevan, age 77, of Harrisburg , and formerly of Mechanicsburg , died at Spring Creek Rehabilitation Care Center on Tuesday, August 12, 2014. Jim was born on Saturday, November 28, 1936 in West Brownsville to the late Wilson Lewis Bevan and Laura Hanna (Johns) Bevan. Jim was the husband of Mary Louise (Frey) Bevan whom he married on November 4, 1961. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his brother, Wilson Bevan.
Jim’s survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mary; his children: Suzanne Louise Bean and her husband, Robert, of Harrisburg, Patricia Marie Derry and her, husband, Robert of Harrisburg, Michelle Lynn Lontz and her husband, Ronald, of Millersburg, Nancy Ellen Mini and her husband, Joseph, of Lancaster; his grandchildren: Nick Bean, Julissa Bean, Elizabeth Bean, Lindsey Soult, Ryan Derry, Julia Derry, Kenny Sanchez, Isaac Loncar, Colleen Loncar, Lawrence Loncar, Jr., Matthew Lontz, Katie Lahr, Kelsey Lontz, Daniel Ramos, Felicia Ramos, Tyler Mini, Joseph Mini; his great-grandchildren: Karter Sanchez, Vincent Loncar; his siblings: Ardith Wheaton and her husband, Alvin, of Monessen, Larry Bevan and his wife, Donna, of West Alexander; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim graduated from Monessen High School as part of the class of 1956. He retired from the Commonwealth of PA in the Department of General Services . After his retirement from the state, Jim was a cashier at Harrisburg International Airport . Jim was a member of Eberly’s Mill Church of God in Camp Hill. He was a shop steward and secretary for AFSCME Local # 2162 and a member of AFSCME Sub Chapter 8902, Council 13 .
All are welcome to join Jim’s family at his viewing on Saturday, August 16, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Eberly’s Mill Church of God , 115 Creek Road, Camp Hill with Pastor Jim Moss, Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow in Rolling Green Memorial Park in Camp Hill.
Jim’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church following the burial.
