Always There for Others -
James “Jim” Frederick Miller, age 52, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Louisiana, Washington, and Texas, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. Jim was born on Saturday, June 18, 1966 in Mechanicsburg to the late James C. Miller and Jennie M. (Zies) Miller. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his brother, David James Miller.
Jim’s survivors include his wife of 10 years, Melissa “Missy” Ann (Riggleman) Miller; his two sons: Andrew Miller and his wife, Ana, of El Paso, TX, Cameron Miller of Chattanooga, TN; his five stepchildren: Meagan Bruce and her husband, Robert, of Dillsburg, PA, Maddie Miller and her husband, Brandon, of York Haven, PA, Monique Kraft of York, PA, Mandy Kraft and her significant other, Neil Bretz, of Carlisle, PA, Matthew “Bubba” Kraft of York, PA; his 13 grandchildren: Athena, Mason, Tyler, Chandler, Nevaeh, Bentley, Myah, DJ, Zayden, Jordynn, Raelyn, Olivia, Avalyn; his sister, Mildred “Millie” Bitting and her husband, Beau, of Shermans Dale, PA; his aunt, Barb Schiffer and her husband, Donny, of Enola, PA; several nieces and nephews; and his Miniature Pinscher, Tex.
Jim proudly served in the United States Army. He was currently employed at the Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg, where he started as a material handler in 2013. Jim loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He also looked forward to going to different amusement parks with his family but enjoyed heading out to Knoebels the most. Jim was very caring and always there for others; he would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. His favorite thing was spending time with his family and having his grandchildren around.
All are welcome to join Jim’s family at his graveside service, where full military honors will be presented, on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 55 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA 17003; with Reverend George A. Spangler officiating. Jim’s family invites everyone to join them for a dutch treat reception at Funck’s Family Restaurant, 1805 Fisher Avenue, Annville, PA 17003, following the service. Cremation was private.
In honor of Jim’s dreams to create a way to help homeless veterans, contributions may be sent to any such charity of the donor’s choosing. All other contributions in memory of Jim’s life can be made to Hospice to Central Pennsylvania (HCP), 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110, www.HospiceOfCentralPA.org.
