James “Jim” Charles Williams

James “Jim” Charles Williams, age 72, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Hughestown, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020. Jim was born on Friday, October 10, 1947, in Pittston to the late James Williams and Irene (Ruane) Williams. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his sister, Mary who died at birth.
Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Colleen Mary (McDonald) Williams; his daughter Katie Brundage and husband Dave and their children Harrison and Claire of Bel Air, MD; his son Brian Williams of Minneapolis, MN; and his two brothers: John Williams and wife Karen of Lakewood, CO, Joe Williams and wife Diane of Lake Ariel, PA.
Jim graduated from St. John’s High School in Pittston as part of the class of 1965 and from King’s College in Wilkes Barre in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart in 1968. Jim retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry in Harrisburg, after more than 35 years of service working as a system analyst. He was a member of the Lower Allen VFW Post 7530 in Mechanicsburg and an avid fan of both the New York Yankees and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
All are welcome to join Jim’s family for his virtual committal service via video chat or telephone on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. with Celebrant Patti Vogl officiating. Cremation was private.
While Jim’s family will not be accepting flowers, they invite those wishing to celebrate Jim’s life to make a memorial contribution to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
