James “Jim” Owen Young

James “Jim” Owen Young, 59, of Mechanicsburg died suddenly on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Hanover Hospital. He was born on Friday, March 7, 1952 the son of Joan M. (Hartman) Young, who survives him, and the late Donald R. Young. He married Paula Joan Herb, who also survives him, on November 27, 1987.

Jim graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1970. He was the President and CFO of Universal Media Inc. based in Mechanicsburg, PA. He was an avid baseball and football fan. He gave generously to numerous charitable children’s organizations. He loved his friends and family, especially his loving wife and children and most especially his grandsons. He will be greatly missed.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 23 years: Paula Joan Young; one daughter: Kendra Rhodes and her husband Russell; one son: Christopher Young; his mother: Joan M. Criscuolo, all of Mechanicsburg; three brothers: Donald Young of Carlisle, Randy Young of Carlisle, Gary Young of Benton; two beloved grandsons and his extended family: Jack & Cathy Lange with their children Rose & Paul as well as their families.

All are welcome to join Jim’s family at a Gathering of Family & Friends on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 from 4:00 until time of Memorial Service at 6:00 at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church , 5000 Simpson Ferry Road, Mechanicsburg, PA, 17050 with Reverend Dr. David L. Reed, of the United Methodist Home for Children, officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
