Jane (Corll) Thomas, age 96, of Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 14, 2016. Jane was born on Monday, September 6, 1920 in Hadley, PA to the late Herman Milton Corll and Naomi Josephine (Vosler) Corll. Jane was the widow of Charles Edward Thomas, Esq., whom she married in 1941, and who died on July 3, 1998. In addition to her parents and husband, Jane was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. James Corll; her older sister, Josephine Demshare and her twin sister Jean Murray.
Jane’s survivors include her three children: Charles “Tom/Chuck” E. Thomas, Jr. and his wife, Joyce, of Lemoyne, John Thomas and his wife, Suzan, of New York City, D. Mark Thomas and his wife, Jeanne, of Hilton Head, SC; her eight grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren, with two on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
Jane graduated as valedictorian from Stoneboro High School and attended college in Cleveland until the war interrupted her schooling. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Camp Hill for more than 60 years. In addition to the demands of raising three sons, Jane was active in the Junior League of Harrisburg, West Shore Country Club, Highland Women’s Club, and was a past chairperson on the board of Homeland Center in Harrisburg. She was a proud wife, sister, and mother who never forgot growing up in Mercer County in the little village of Stoneboro where many of her values had their roots. Jane felt a deep pride for her entire family and valued and respected the fundamentals of Christianity and education. She was an avid card player, especially Bridge. Her 96 years were well spent and productive.
All are welcome to join Jane’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Saturday, November 19, 2016, from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. in Bethany Village East Community Room at 325 Wesley Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Bishop Neil L. Irons officiating. Jane’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Bethany Village East Community Room after the service. Burial will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill. Honored to be pallbearers are her sons, and her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Camp Hill.
