An Excellent Baker -

Janet Kathleen (Karstetter) Bistline, age 76 of Harrisburg, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021.  Janet was born on Friday, June 30, 1944, in Steelton to the late John Walter Karstetter and Joanna Marie (Duralja) Karstetter.  Janet was the widow of Richard Leroy Bistline, whom she married on June 29, 1963, and who died on May 25, 2016.  In addition to her parents and husband, Janet is preceded in death by her brother, Richard Karstetter.

Janet’s survivors include her three sons:  Richard “Rich” Leroy Bistline, Jr. and wife, Tina, of Harrisburg, Michael “Mike” Allan Bistline and wife, Maryanne, of Halifax, Robert “Rob” Scott Bistline and wife, Jessica, of Palmyra; her nine grandchildren: Chad Donbaugh, Ashley Lehn, Ashley Bistline, Kyle Bistline, Nolan Bistline, Benjamin Bistline, Noah Bistline, Elijah Bistline, Luke Bistline; her 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Janet graduated from Steelton High School as part of the class of 1962.  She retired from Central Dauphin School District in Harrisburg, after many years of service working as a bus driver.  Janet was a long-time member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Harrisburg.  She enjoyed painting ceramics and was quite fond of both polka music and dance.  She adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them.  Janet treasured the trips to Disney World with her grandchildren because that meant opportunities to create many special memories.  She was known to be an excellent baker and sold her nut rolls, sticky buns, apple dumplings, pumpkin rolls and sand tarts to many local restaurants.  Janet also enjoyed entertaining at the many family barbecues and pool parties.  Her family and many friends will greatly miss her love and support.

All are welcome to join Janet’s family at her viewing on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, from 10:45 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. with a service beginning at 12:15 p.m., all at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4200 Londonderry Road, Harrisburg, PA 17109; with Reverend James E. Person officiating.  Burial will follow the service in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg.  Janet’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at her church immediately following the burial.
