Janet Lucille (Souder) Brenneman

Devoted Mother and Grandmother -

Janet Lucille (Souder) Brenneman, age 82, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at home while being comforted by her loving family on Saturday, April 4, 2020, shortly after being diagnosed with cancer.  Janet was born on Sunday, December 26, 1937, in Mechanicsburg, to the late Margaret A. (Ritter) Souder and George O. Souder.

Janet’s survivors include her loving husband of over 56 years, Forrest “Duke” Brenneman; her two children: Karen Howard of Mechanicsburg and Forrest Kent Brenneman of Mechanicsburg; her three grandchildren: Janelle Howard, Adam Howard, Cole Brenneman; her four brothers: G. Lee Souder, Ronald Souder, Steven Souder, Robert Souder; and several nieces and nephews.

Janet graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of its first graduating class in 1955.  She was a lifelong member of First Church of God in Mechanicsburg.  Janet worked for Bell Telephone as a card processor for 10 years before taking time to raise her children.  She later enjoyed dipping ice cream at Rakestraw’s Ice Cream in Mechanicsburg for 15 years and loved meeting and talking to people while preparing and serving food samples at local Giant Food Stores for 12 years.  Janet found her passion for crafting; at first making Christmas ornaments which evolved into creating wreaths for all holidays and seasons.  Janet was actively involved with her grandchildren, and her family will miss her dearly.

All are welcome to join Janet’s family for her virtual gathering of family and friends and service via video chat on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, from 2:45 p.m. until time of service at 3:30 p.m. with Reverend Tracy A. Conner officiating.  Private interment will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.  Cremation was private.
