Janet "Jan" Clare (Poole) Reinhardt

Janet “Jan” Poole Reinhardt, 93 years old, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Port Washington, NY and Dillsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2023 at Messiah Lifeways.  Jan was born on August 1, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph Harold Poole and Clara Quattlander Poole.  

Jan is survived by her husband of 68 years, William “Bill” Edgar Reinhardt, Jr.; her two sons: William Reinhardt of Chapel Hill, NC and David Reinhardt of Seattle, WA; her two granddaughters: Jennifer Reinhardt of Kansas City, MO and Christine Howieson of Syracuse, NY; and her great-granddaughter, Hannah.  

Jan was involved with many community organizations throughout her life (local theatre, AAUW, ECW, PTA), had a private pilot’s license, raised sheep and hand spun the wool, and was a world traveler.

  I would rather my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze  

  Than it should be stifled in dry rot.  

  I would rather be a superb meteor  

  Every atom of me in magnificent glow.  

  Than a sleepy and permanent planet.

  I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them.

Per her specified wishes, Jan will be cremated and there will be no public events.
