A Dedicated Man -

Jay Lynn Richwine, Sr., age 82, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully at Bethany Village with his loving family and wife of almost 65 years by his side on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.  Jay was born on Friday, April 3, 1936 in Carlisle to the late Ralph M. Richwine, Sr. and Mabel E. (Yost) Richwine.  In addition to his parents, Jay is preceded in death by his two brothers, Paul Richwine and Earl Richwine; and his two sisters: June Gutshall and Lois Wagner.

Jay’s survivors include his devoted wife, Jean E. (Sheller) Richwine; his four children: Jay “Lynn” Richwine, Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Harrisburg, PA, Karen Bucher and her husband, David, of Dillsburg, PA, Cindy Hassinger and her husband, Mark, of Dauphin, PA, Nancy Jackson and her husband, Rex, of Harpers Ferry, WV; his nine grandchildren: Jennifer Seip, Elizabeth “Beth Ann” Campbell and her husband, Dustin, Matthew Richwine, Ryan Bucher and his wife, Kelly, Brandon Bucher and his wife, Summer, Amy Anderson and her husband, Bobby, Abby Hassinger, Brittney Jackson, Blake Jackson; his five great-grandchildren: Ben Seip, Josh Seip, Danny Seip, Connor Bucher, Breeze Bucher along with Baby Bucher and Baby Anderson on-the-way; his siblings: Doris Rhodes, Janet Thrush, Flo Keck, Ralph Richwine, Jr., Lee Richwine and his wife, Shirley, Don Richwine and his wife, Wendy; and several nieces and nephews.

Jay proudly began working as a Surge Dealer in 1960 until starting his own business, Soft Touch Water Conditioning, for over 30 years.  He dedicated himself to everything throughout his life, especially to his family.  Jay absolutely cherished the moments when his whole family was together.  He enjoyed being able to sit back and listen to all the laughter and conversations happening around him.  Jay also found great value in sitting down together to have a meal because he always found it important to, “have your feet under your own table”.  He loved the outdoors and finding a place with a beautiful view.  Jay and Jean sometimes found these places on the annual trips the couple would take together that Jay earned through work.  They were able to go all over the world and set out on cruises, but Jay always found it best to be home.

All are welcome to join Jay’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Saturday, December 15, 2018, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a service to begin at 11:15 a.m. at Mechanicsburg Church of the Brethren, 301 Gale Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Del Keeney officiating.  Jay’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church following the service.  Cremation was private.
