Greatest Love Was Her Family -
Jean Veretta (Pease) Arbegast, age 90, of Mechanicsburg, left this world for her heavenly home on Thursday, July 12, 2018. Jean was born on Friday, September 23, 1927 in Mechanicsburg to the late Murray Francis Pease and Irene Odessa (Slyder) Pease. Jean was the widow of Harry W. Arbegast, Jr., whom she married on September 25, 1943, and who died on August 11, 1993.
Jean’s survivors include her two children: Murray F. Arbegast and his wife, Pauline, of Berwick, Bonnie J. Morrow and her husband, Jim, of Mechanicsburg; her six grandchildren: Bill, Tammy, Kimberly, Brian, Willy, Tyke; her 16 great-grandchildren; her two sisters: Maxine Rhoads of Mechanicsburg, Justine Beil and her husband, Bob, of East Berlin; and several nieces and nephews.
Jean was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, where she was very active in both the church and Sunday school. She was a member of the Friendly Circle Class. She also helped to make church meals, and items for church sales such as Easter eggs, soups, pies, and cakes. Jean and her husband, also delivered tapes of the Sunday services to the members who couldn’t attend. She volunteered alongside her husband with the Mechanicsburg Area Meals on Wheels. Jean enjoyed singing, sewing, decorating, refinishing furniture, and making braided wool rugs. She often spent Sundays having a family lunch and supper at her Grandma and Grandpa Pease’s house or making a trip to Country Cupboard. Jean loved to work in her flower gardens, color pictures, and watch The Inspiration Channel. She sometimes made trips to Woolrich and Susquehanna Trail for sewing material and Furmans for vegetables to can or freeze. Jean most enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends. Her greatest love was her family and helping others, which included assisting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
All are welcome to join Jean’s family at her viewing on Friday, July 20, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Ronald S. French officiating.
Burial will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Honored to be pallbearers are: Brian Morrow, Brock Kerchner, Jim Seybert, Kyle Seybert, Levi Seybert, Bailey Seybert, and Billy Miller. Jean’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Grace United Methodist Church, 216 South Market Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, following the burial.
