Jeanne Arvelle (Snell) Runkle

Jeanne Arvelle (Snell) Runkle, 80, of Carlisle , and formerly of Camp Hill and Lemoyne , died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. She was born in Lemoyne, on Wednesday, November 4, 1931, daughter of the late Harry Snell and Mabel (Goodyear) Snell. Jeanne was the widow of her high-school sweetheart, William “Bill” D. Runkle, whom she married on December 20, 1947, and who died on February 19, 2012.
Jeanne was the bookkeeper of Bill Runkle’s Exxon in Harrisburg which was family owned. She was a woman of strong opinions who was firm in her beliefs. Jeanne was fond of playing cards, especially “canasta” with the Aunts and Uncles.
Jeanne’s survivors include her daughter Deborah J. Dumar of Arkansas; her two sons, Richard D. Runkle of Dillsburg and Michael E. Runkle of Dallastown; two grandsons; four granddaughters and six great-grandchildren. Among those preceding Jeanne in death are eight siblings: Elva Finkbinder, Lucinda Murphy, Lillian Shade, Doris Snell, Herman Snell, Irving Snell, Robert Snell and Verna Wert.
Cremation followed by interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery in New Cumberland will be private and at the convenience of the family.
