Jeannie Marie (Richwine) Geedy, age 58, of Mifflintown, and formerly of Cumberland County, died peacefully at home with her husband by her side on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, after a short battle with cancer. Jeannie was born on Friday, May 10, 1957, in Lancaster, PA to the late Leon Floyd Richwine and Junia Faye (Nickel) Richwine. In addition to her parents, Jeannie is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Richwine.
Jeannie’s survivors include her loving husband of 22 years, Russell “Russ” Lee Geedy, Jr.; her two sons: Rajon W. Jernigan and his significant other, Amanda Garrett, and his son, Aidan, all of Enola, PA, Seth E. Munson of Enola; her three siblings: Gary L. Richwine of Lancaster, Ronald Richwine of Virginia Beach, VA, Beth Hallett of Conestoga, PA; her beloved dogs: Addie, Buddie, Chloe, and Dusty; and several nieces and nephews.
Jeannie graduated from Northern Lebanon High School as part of the class of 1975. She worked at Fry Communications, Inc. for 30 years as a type setter. Jeannie was a longtime member of Hope United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, where she served as a trustee and participated in the choir, bell choir, and Sunshine Sisters. She was an active member of Silver Spring Community Fire Company for over 15 years; proudly serving as a firefighter, fire police, trustee, and a volunteer during chicken barbeque and bingo fundraisers. Jeannie had a deep love for animals and volunteered regularly to help them. Some of Jeannie’s favorite pastimes were camping, reading, and spending time in Virginia Beach with her brother, Ron. Always supportive of her boys, Jeannie encouraged Rajon’s sports and Seth’s musical endeavors; and following in his mother’s footsteps led Seth into volunteer fire service. Jeannie will be dearly missed by her family.
All are welcome to join Jeannie’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Saturday, January 2, 2016, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. and her memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Hope United Methodist Church, 6260 Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050; with Reverend Laura Minnella officiating. Jeannie’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at her church following the service.
