Jeffery “Jeff” Hanwell

A “Good Egg” -

Jeffery “Jeff” Wade Hanwell, age 49, of Etters, and formerly of Northern Cambria, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022.  Jeff was born on Thursday, June 29, 1972, in Barnesboro to Sandra “Sandy” Lee (Davis) Hanwell and the late Donald Hanwell.

Jeff’s survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Angela “Angie” Faith (Adams) Hanwell; his mother, Sandra “Sandy” Lee (Davis) Hanwell of Northern Cambria; his two brothers: Joseph “Joe” Allen Hanwell and his wife, Sherry, of Camp Hill and Daniel “Dan” Lee Hanwell and his wife, Tracey, of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Jeff graduated from Northern Cambria High School as part of the class of 1990 and he attended Harrisburg Area Community College.  He worked for Penske Truck Leasing as a mechanic.  Jeff deeply enjoyed biking and riding motorcycles.  He often went on long rides, camping along the way, with his longest ride being 800 miles in one day.  Jeff liked to kayak in the ocean and loved adventuring with Angie.  Together they biked The Great Allegheny Passage and camped at The Dry Tortugas in Fort Jefferson.  Jeff was always on the go, couldn’t sit still and could fix anything; if he needed something, he made it.  He had an interest in airplanes and enjoyed going to airplane museums. Jeff was always available to help, whether he was asked to or not, and was known as a “good egg”.

Jeff’s family and friends are welcome to join Jeff’s family at his celebration of life open house on Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a time of remembrance at 5:00 p.m. at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory); with Celebrant George A. Spangler officiating.  Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of the parking lots.  Cremation was private.

All are also welcome to join Jeff’s family on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at his memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a reception and greeting of guests beginning at 12:30 p.m. all at Goodridge Church of God, 626 Goodridge Road, Northern Cambria, PA 15714, (814) 948-6111.

While Jeff’s family will not be accepting flowers, they invite those wishing to celebrate Jeff’s life to make a memorial contribution to The Siegel Rare Neuroimmune Association, PO Box 826962, www.wearesrna.org/donate in honor of Jeff’s battle and two time defeat of neuroimmne disease.
