Jeffrey “Jeff” Kevin Smolizer, age 59, of Carlisle passed away at home on Friday, May 29, 2020. Jeff was born on Wednesday, July 27, 1960, in Harrisburg to the late Rolland Luther Smolizer and Mary Carolyn (Bathurst) Smolizer.
Jeff’s survivors include his three siblings: David “Dave” Bathurst Smolizer and wife, Kathleen, of Camp Hill, Carole Smolizer Fait and husband, Greg, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Michael “Mike” Rolland Smolizer of Harrisburg; his four nieces and a nephew.
Jeff will be remembered for his love of baseball, music, and especially as a talented guitarist and song writer. As a younger man, he would practice his guitar all night long and became one of the best guitar players in the Central PA area. In the early 80s, he and others created the band named Spectres and packed the East Coast with their heavy metal style. Later, he formed the band Silent Rage, developing a more progressive rock style. Jeff decided to attend Harrisburg Area Community College to study music theory, piano, and classical music. The 90s brought the formation of a new band, Demoralizer, in which Jeff concentrated on more original compositions. His CD, Two Sides to Every Story, was a refreshing collection of original songs that Jeff wrote, expressing his own unique feelings.
Jeff’s family will be remembering his life privately. Cremation was private.
