Jennings “Jen” Franklin Hooven
Veteran and Longtime Railroad Worker -
Jennings “Jen” Franklin Hooven, age 84, of Mechanicsburg, died at Carlisle Regional Medical Center on Thursday, December 31, 2015. Jen was born on Tuesday, September 29, 1931 in York, PA to the late John J. Hooven, Sr. and Audrey A. (Miller) Hooven. In addition to his parents, Jen is preceded in death by his brother, John Hooven.
Jen’s survivors include his three children: Charles “Chuck” Hooven and his wife, Rosemary, of Mechanicsburg, PA, Connie Hempt of Etters, PA, Denise Morton and her husband, Brent, of Newville, PA; his four grandchildren; his four great-grandchildren; and his two sisters: Pat Brunner of Carlisle, PA and Carolyn of Pittsburgh, PA.
Jen served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. He retired from the railroad after 42 years of service. Jen was a member of the VFW Carlisle Post 477, Carlisle Fraternal Order of Eagles #1299, the White Circle Club of Carlisle; and a lifetime member of both the Enola Sportsmen’s Association and the West Fairview American Legion Post 984.
Jen’s family will be remembering his life privately. Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA will be at the family’s convenience. Cremation was private.
