Jerry Clare Morrison

Jerry Clare Morrison, age 84, of Hampden Township, and formerly of Cadillac, MI, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017, following a brief illness. Jerry was born on Tuesday, July 18, 1933 in Cadillac, MI to the late Clare Morrison and Edna (Largent) Morrison. In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his three sisters: Carley Banes, Gloria Buchnolz, and Vicky Berry.
Jerry’s survivors include his wife of 12 years, Jean (Gebhard) Bacon; his son, Michael “Mike” Morrison and his wife, Stephanie, of York Springs; his aunt, Joyce Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry graduated from Cadillac High School as part of the class of 1952 prior to being drafted into the United States Army. He proudly served during the Korean War from 1953 until 1955. Jerry went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University following his time in the military. He retired from the Navy Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg, after 25 years of service working as a computer programmer and then a supervisor. He was a member of the Lower Allen VFW Post 7530, American Legion Post 26 in Dillsburg, White Rose Polka Dancers Association, and Capital City Dancers Association. Jerry was also very proud of his hometown in Cadillac, MI and he shared this regard with everyone around him. He liked to dance, draw, play Sudoku, and try his hand at various card games on the computer. In his younger years, Jerry enjoyed skiing, playing golf, and going out with his friends. He was known to be quite the talker which most often included conversations about the most up-to-date news since Jerry was always watching CNN. Football was his favorite sport to watch and Jerry consistently remained faithful to all Michigan teams.
All are welcome to join Jerry’s family at his gathering of family and friends reception on Saturday, December 30, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a time of remembrance and sharing of stories to begin at 2:30 p.m., all at the Mechanicsburg Club, 333 Heinz Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
Burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville was private and at the convenience of the family.
