JoAnne Louise Anderson

JoAnne Louise (Lamberton) Anderson, age 85, of Mechanicsburg, died at home and surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, September 14, 2023.  JoAnne was born on Monday, December 13, 1937, in Waymart to the late Walter Lamberton and Catherine Violet (Marsh) Lamberton.  JoAnne was the widow of Lt Col. James Joseph Anderson, whom she married on November 28, 1959, and who died on September 2, 1996.  In addition to her parents and husband, JoAnne is preceded in death by her son: James Anderson II; and her three brothers: Fred Lamberton, Frank Laberton, and David Lamberton.

JoAnne’s survivors include her two children: Jeffry Anderson and his wife, Irene, of New Freedom; Kimberly Anderson-Bower and her husband, Roger, of Mechanicsburg; her three grandsons: Ryan Sipe and his wife, Jess; Tyler Sipe and his fiance, Kiersten; and James Anderson III.

JoAnne graduated from Waymart Normal Institute as part of the class of 1955.  She worked for Naval Intelligence as a secretary at the Pentagon for four years.  She was a member of Eastern Star in Honesdale. Always active, JoAnne was an avid golfer, bowler, and excellent knitter.  She was incredibly knowledgeable and excelled at trivia. JoAnne put family first, caring for her grandsons and her father for some time. She will be dearly missed by those that loved her.

All are welcome to join JoAnne’s family at her viewing on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 9:15 a.m. until time of service at 10:15 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with celebrant George Spangler officiating.  JoAnne’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service.  Burial will follow the reception in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
