John Paul Alexander, 80, of Mechanicsburg , died at home and surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 27, 2013. He was born in Frackville, on Saturday, October 15, 1932, son of the late Simon Uhrin and Sophie Moruck Uhrin. John was the husband of Bernice Alma (Castoe) Alexander whom he married on March 1, 1950.
John’s survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Bernice; a loving son, John P. Alexander and his partner Daniel Jusko of Mechanicsburg; a loving daughter Cindy Alexander of Mechanicsburg; three sisters, Gerry Tackett of FL, Mary Ann Harrell and her husband Frank of FL, Pauline Jaskerski of Frackville; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding John in death are his sister Josephine Walunas.
John retired from the US Air Force, after 23 years of service, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars . John was a member of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Camp Hill. He also retired from SCI Camp Hill after ten years of service as a correctional officer. John enjoyed collecting coins and watching wrestling on television. Most of all, He was a family man who dedicated his life to his family and was extremely proud of his marriage of 63 years.
Cremation and burial with military honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be private and at the family’s convenience. The family suggests memorial contributions to Compassionate Care Hospice , 513 Cedar Cliff Drive, Suite 100, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
