John Albert Duttry, 80, of Mechanicsburg , and formerly of Worthington , died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Tuesday, January 8, 2013. He was born in Worthington, on Saturday, May 28, 1932, son of the late Arthur Francis Duttry and Viola Elizabeth (Swagger) Duttry. John was the husband of Llynndeth Ann (Fox) Duttry whom he married on June 15, 1968.
John graduated from Worthington–West Franklin High School in the 1950s and from Indiana University in 1962. He retired from the Navy Ships Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg in 1990. Ever since boyhood and throughout his life, John lived to hunt and in his adult life, he loved to golf. He was a member of the Almech Golf League and he was a devoted volunteer at the New Hope Ministries Food Pantry in Mechanicsburg. John and Llynndeth were members of the Cloverleaf Square Dance Club and they loved to travel together, seeing much of North America. John was a member of the American Legion Post #109 and VFW Post #7530 both in Mechanicsburg as well as the NRA .
John’s survivors include his loving wife of almost 45 years, Llynndeth Ann (Fox) Duttry; his daughter, Doris Derr of TX; his son, Garry Duttry of Newport; his sister, June Keller of Fenelton; and his brother, Leo Duttry of Fenelton. Among those preceding John in death are his three brothers: James, Francis and Lee.
All are welcome to join John’s family at his visitation on Friday, January 11, 2013, from 10:00 until time of memorial service at 11:00 at Trinity United Methodist Church , 4 West Main Street, New Kingstown, PA 17072, with Reverend Eric L. Funk officiating. John’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church following the memorial service. Burial will follow the reception at 1:45 in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg. Cremation was private.
