John Lawrence Fulton
John Lawrence Fulton, age 52, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Vandergrift, passed away unexpectedly while on vacation at Bethany Beach on Sunday, July 19, 2020. John was born on October 29, 1967, in Vandergrift to Ronald R. “Butch” Fulton and Mary Ann (Flynn) Knepshield.
John is survived by his wife of 25 years, SueAnn (Fajt) Fulton; their two children: Quinn Allen Fulton and Caroline Abby Fulton, both of Mechanicsburg; his father Ronald R. Fulton and wife, Janet, of Apollo; his mother Mary Ann (Flynn) Knepshield and husband, Ron, of Vandergrift; his sister Bethanne Fulton and significant other, Lisa Fitzsimmons, of Apollo; his mother-, father-, sisters- and brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine companion, Bode.
John graduated from Kiski Area High School in 1985 and attended Penn State University, Happy Valley, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in political science in 1990. John recently celebrated 30 years of employment with the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Democratic Caucus. He started there as a research analyst in the Legislative Research and Development Office and worked his way to become the Executive Director of the House Local Government Committee, where he was respected by his colleagues for his knowledge of the issues and sincere desire to help. John loved life and lived it to the fullest. His family was his center, with all fun and celebration flowing from it. In addition to his love and devotion, he gave SueAnn, Quinn and Caroline the gift of many family moments to remember. He developed a passion for all things Disney World when the kids were very young, a tradition he kept up throughout their lives with frequent trips and season passes to see all that was new, and served as an unofficial Disney travel agent for friends and family. He even brought Disney home, building an Adventurers Bar off his patio so that family and friends could gather and celebrate and feel like true Adventurers Club members. A Pittsburgh Pirates fan for life, John and his friends and family often made the trip to the spring training ballpark in Bradenton, FL, where they scouted the upcoming season and equally toured the local nightlife and fruit stands. A proud dad and lover of baseball, he coached youth baseball and cheered Quinn and Caroline from the sidelines in baseball and soccer. In John’s life, friends were his family, and family were his friends. That is John Fulton’s legacy.
