A Kind Soul -

John Westley Jones, II, age 43, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Harrisburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.  John was born on Sunday, March 23, 1975 in Harrisburg to Kathy Ann (Boyer) Jones and the late Michael A. Jones.

John’s survivors include his two sons: Colton Jones of Mechanicsburg and Zachary Jones of Duncannon; his mother, Kathy Jones of Mechanicsburg; his sister, Lynn Salvadia of Etters; his two nephews: Michael Salvadia of Etters, Nicholas Salvadia of Etters; his two great-nephews; his maternal grandmother, Mary Boyer of Mechanicsburg; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

John graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the Class of 1993 and from ITT Tech with a Certificate in Information Technology.  He was currently employed as an IT consultant with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) since January 2017.  Prior to that, John worked for Unisys as an IT consultant.  He also worked for Quaker Oats Co. in Shiremanstown and Overnite Trucking in Mechanicsburg.  The most important thing to John was spending time with his son, Colton.  John also enjoyed spending time outdoors, hiking, reading, listening to music, lifting weights.  He was an avid Washington Redskins and Miami Hurricanes fan.  John never missed a chance to spend quality time with his family and friends; they will all miss him dearly.

All are welcome to join John’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until his time of remembrance at 11:30 a.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with William Boyer officiating.  John’s family invites everyone to join them for a celebration of life reception at Liberty Forge, 3804 Lisburn Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, following the service.  Cremation was private.
