John Michael Kauffman, Jr., 82, of Mechanicsburg , died at the Manor at Perry Village on Sunday, March 17, 2013. He was born in Fairview Township, on Saturday, May 17, 1930, son of the late John M. Kauffman and Edith Viola (Cline) Kauffman.
John’s survivors include his brother, Robert W. Kauffman of Carlisle; his sister, Mary C. Duncan of Hummelstown; his nephew, David Shumaker and his wife Connie of Shermans Dale; and several other nieces and nephews. Among those preceding John in death are his brother, Donald Kauffman; and his two sisters, Naomi Kauffman-Fager, and Betty Kauffman Shumaker.
John graduated from Mechanicsburg High School and then proudly fought in the Korean War as part of the US Army until his honorable discharge on September 27, 1960. John worked for Locust Point Quarry in Mechanicsburg and the Railroad . He retired as a truck driver from Hempt Brothers, Inc . in Mechanicsburg. John loved antique automobiles and old tractors.
Services and burial will be private and at the family’s convenience in Rolling Green Memorial Park in Camp Hill, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard .
