John graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1968. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War with the 46th Engineer Battalion. John loved being a veteran, it was an honor that he was able to protect his family and land he called home. Another aspect he enjoyed was the comradery with his fellow veterans. He retired from Bethlehem Steel in 2003, after many years of service working as a steel worker. John was a member of VFW Memorial Post 6704, American Legion Post #109, The Mechanicsburg Club, and West Shore Elks Lodge 2257. He enjoyed playing pinochle, golfing, hunting, and fishing; John would use a bow for both fish and deer. As a member of the Enola Sportsmen’s Association, John could often be found shooting target practice. He collected wheat pennies and was so proficient with a metal detector, he was known for finding lost left-over lunch money and various collectables. His family and friends will miss him greatly.
