John “Ski” Niedzwiecki

John “Ski” Niedzwiecki, age 67, of Dillsburg, passed into God’s Eternal Kingdom at Holy Spirit Hospital on Wednesday, March 23, 2016. John was born on Sunday, January 16, 1949 in Shenandoah to Sophie (Cooper) Niedzwiecki and the late Chester Niedzwiecki.
John’s survivors include his wife of 40 years, Susan J. (Beaver) Niedzwiecki; his mother, Sophie (Cooper) Niedzwiecki; his two children: Stacey J. Niedzwiecki of Dillsburg, John J. Niedzwiecki II and his wife, Stephanie, of Burke, VA; his two grandchildren: Samantha Niedzwiecki, Timothy Niedzwiecki both of Burke, VA; and his five siblings: Chester Niedzwiecki and his wife, Doris, of Orwigsburg, Robert Niedzwiecki and his wife, Marie, of Red Hill, Ann Jean Shimko and her husband, George, of Frackville, Mary Ann Miller of Morea, Barbara Schweitzer of Honesdale and a host of nieces and nephews.
John graduated from Frackville High School as part of the class of 1966 and from Ford Business School in 1968. John served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Highmark Blue Shield in Camp Hill in 2010, where he worked as a computer business analyst. John then worked as a private contractor up until his passing. He was a long time member of Saint Peter Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg. He was a member of Frackville Elks Lodge #1533, East Berlin Fish & Game Club, and the VFW South Mountain Post 6771, where he was a long-time quartermaster, board member, and past commander. John loved to watch old western movies, especially the ones that John Wayne starred in. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, Penn State, the Eagles, and the Phillies. John liked to hunt, fish, spend time with his grandchildren, and to cook in large quantities.
All are welcome to join John’s family at his visitation on Saturday, April 2, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Saint Peter Lutheran Church, 130 Nittany Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA; with Reverend Rochelle E. Lewis officiating. John’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church following the service. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Cremation was private.
