John David Nuss, age 60, of Carlisle, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 12, 2017. John was born on Monday, August 13, 1956 in Mechanicsburg to the late John Wilson Nuss and Alice Naomi (Musselman) Nuss.
John graduated from Mechanicsburg Area High School as part of the class of 1974 and from Harrisburg Area Community College in 1976 with an associate’s degree in business. He worked in Carlisle at Dairy Queen for 14 years and then Wal-Mart for 5 years, both in the maintenance department. John attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Carlisle and he was a member of the Carlisle Chess Club. He loved to play chess and was an excellent competitor. John’s favorite thing to do was to eat, especially if it was his favorite meal of turkey dinner.
All are welcome to join John’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Monday, January 16, 2017, from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 44 West Main Street, Shiremanstown, PA 17011; with The Reverend Michael L. Seifried and The Reverend Sarah M. Keilholtz officiating. John’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church following the service. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery in Mechanicsburg will be private and at the family’s convenience.
The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to The Stevens Center who so lovingly cared for John.
