John Dale Scott, age 79, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.  John was born on Friday, September 29, 1940 in Shade Gap to the late John Lester Scott and Hazel Laura (Burdge) Scott. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his six brothers and his beloved canine companion, Sadie.

John’s survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Jacqueline “Jackie” Elizabeth (Wirt) Scott; his two sons: Richard “Rich” Scott and his wife, Sherry, and their two children, Maddie and Zachary, of Jacksonville, NC, Christopher “Chris” Scott and his fiancée, Renee Walker, of Stewartstown; his two sisters: Ruth Brady and her husband, John, of Huntington, Mary Scott of Mount Union; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine pal, Rico.

John graduated from Captain Jack High School in Mount Union as part of the class of 1961.  He worked as an engineer for Gannett Fleming in Camp Hill and Buchart Horn, Inc. in York.  John had many interests and was always doing something to keep busy.  Sometimes it was riding motorcycles with his buddies, spending time in the outdoors, or waking up early to take long walks with his dog, Rico.  He also enjoyed sports and spent many hours watching Penn State games with a cold Keystone Ice in his hand.

All are welcome to join John’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant Patti Vogl officiating.  Interment will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.  John’s family invites everyone to join them for a reception at Hoss's Steak & Sea House, 61 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 immediately following the interment.  Cremation was private.
