John Michael Smith, 57, of Enola , died at home and surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. He was born in Dover, on Sunday, December 11, 1955, son of Treva Loretta (Small) Smith and the late Wilbert John Smith, Jr. John was the husband of Linda Lee (Swinehart) Smith whom he married on March 20, 1982.
John’s survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Linda; his children, Tamara L. Williams and her fiancé Grant L. Yetter, Jr., of Enola, Jeremy A. Smith and his wife Nikole of Mechanicsburg, Nicholas A. Smith and his companion Antinicia Hibbert of Enola; his granddaughters, Devon and Taylor Smith; his mother, Treva L. Smith of Dover; his brother, Steven A. Smith of York; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding John in death are his siblings, Gregory E. Smith and Carol A. Smith.
John retired from the Naval Ships Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg after 36 years of service. He was a member of the Laborers’ International Union of North America Local # 1310 . John loved to fish, garden, and play scratch off lottery tickets.
All are welcome to join John’s family at his viewing on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, from 9:30 until time of service at 10:30 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Minister Harry D. Musser officiating.
John’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at 43 Edgewood Drive, Mechanicsburg, following the burial.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania , 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
