John Douglas Weary, age 72, of Mechanicsburg , and formerly of Carlisle , died at home on Wednesday, December 31, 2014. John was born on Friday, May 1, 1942 in Carlisle to the late Robert W. Weary, Sr., and D. Alice (Kost) Weary. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his siblings, Robert W. Weary, Jr., and Jacqueline Yeager.
John’s survivors include his two siblings, Marjorie Todd and her husband, William, of Mt. Holly Springs, Richard B. Weary and his wife, Barbara, of Carlisle; his former wife, Pauline “Polly” Weary of Mechanicsburg; his three step children: Karen Henry of Lewisberry, Gary Burd of Loysville, Jacqueline Sariano of Newport; his numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
John graduated from Carlisle High School as part of the class of 1960 and he retired from Tyco, formerly AMP Incorporated . John proudly served in the United States Army and was a member of the Mechanicsburg Club , Tumbling Run Hunting Club , and AMP Nimrods . He greatly enjoyed hunting and his annual fishing trips to Maine. John was a huge Civil War history buff. John cherished spending every weekend since childhood in Pine Grove State Park with his life-long friend, George Ely.
John’s cremation, services, and scattering will be private and at the family’s convenience.
