John “Jack” F. Kelso, Jr., age 92, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Cincinnati, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. John was born on Tuesday, July 5, 1927 in Southgate, KY to the late John F. Kelso, Sr. and Mae I. (Martin) Kelso. In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his sister, Joanne; and his brother, Glen Kelso.
Jack’s survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Pauline T. (Lanter) Kelso; his three children: Cynthia “Cindy” Kelso of Mechanicsburg, Steven “Steve” Kelso of Lakeland, FL, Colleen Nicholson of Mechanicsburg; his five grandchildren: Lacy Barrera and her husband, Derrick of Florida, Cody Kelso of Lakeland, FL, Shane Kelso of Tacoma, WA, Taylor Alvord and her husband, Andrew, of Newbury, OH, Alexa Nicholson of Kent, OH; his sister, Jean Ann O’Connell of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Jack graduated from Hughes High School as part of the class of 1946 and proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. He retired from Kel-View Kennels in Mechanicsburg, after 23 years of service working as the owner and operator. Jack loved sports and was a huge fan of all the Cincinnati teams. He was even lovingly referred to as a “sports freak” by his friends and family. Jack loved his remote, chair, and radio. He was very personable, fun loving, happy, and always the life of the party. Jack was most proud of his family and he would have done absolutely anything for them.
Jack’s family will be remembering his life privately. Interment in Arlington Memorial Gardens in Cincinnati, OH will be at the family’s convenience. Cremation was private.
