July 16, 1949 — September 18, 2016

John “Jack” Robert Lee

Fiercely Proud Father -

John “Jack” Robert Lee, age 67, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at Holy Spirit Hospital on Sunday, September 18, 2016.  Jack was born on Saturday, July 16, 1949 in Philadelphia to Marie Helen (Mahlman) Lee and the late William James Lee.  Jack was the widower of Patricia “Pat” Marie (Sechrist) Lee, whom he married on May 17, 1968, and who died on November 21, 2015.  In addition to his father and wife, Jack is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Lee.

Jack’s survivors include his mother, Marie Helen (Mahlman) Lee of Mechanicsburg; his two children: Tracey Marie Taylor and her husband, Dan, and their daughter, Halee, of Dillsburg, Brad Scott Lee and his wife Amy, and their three children, Isabella, Avah, and Tessa, of Mechanicsburg; and his brother: William Lee of Mechanicsburg.

Jack graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1967 after which he served in the United States Navy.  He was a long-time member of the Mechanicsburg Club, which he called “the office” and where he visited every day.  He was also a member of the American Legion Post #109 in Mechanicsburg.  Jack was a very funny man and was always joking around.  Jack loved to fix things and he constantly tinkered in his workshop.  He enjoyed playing cards, riding his ATVs and snowmobiles, photography, swimming (or at least spending time in the water), and boating with his family and friends in Lake Raystown where there was a lot of water skiing and tubing.  Despite his own health issues, Jack is remembered as always standing by and caring for his wife during her prolonged illness.  More than anything, Jack loved and was fiercely proud of his children and their accomplishments in life.

All are welcome to join Jack’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Friday, September 23, 2016, from 12:00 p.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 East Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Gardners, PA, where Jack’s military service will be honored.  Cremation was private.

Contributions in celebration of Jack’s life and to honor his commitment to all veterans can be made to the veteran’s organization of the donor’s choosing.

Jack’s family has entrusted his care to Myers – Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory in Mechanicsburg, (717) 766-3421.  Read Jack’s full obituary, view his memorial video and portrait, and sign his official guest book at www.Buhrig.com .
