Joseph “Joe” Cekovich, Jr., 58, of Mechanicsburg, died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. He was born in Ft. Campbell, KY, on Saturday, February 27, 1954, son of the late Joseph Cekovich and Jean Alice (Mackey) Cekovich.
Joe graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1972. He retired from Joe Cekovich & Son Well Drilling . Joe was a proud father and grandfather. He was an honest, hard-working man who could fix anything. Joe loved to ride motorcycles. He was a member of the West Shore Masonic Lodge #681 F&AM, Enola Sportsmen’s Association and the Mechanicsburg Club, and past Commander of American Legion Post #109, Mechanicsburg.
Joe’s survivors include his children, Mark Cekovich and his companion Cleta Dolinger of Mechanicsburg, Jeff Cekovich and his wife Nichole of Holidaysburg, Monica Jean Cekovich and her fiancé Rob Ricci of Pittsburgh, Joseph Walter Cekovich and Autumn Mowery of Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren; four siblings, Irene Cekovich and her friend Elizabeth Miceli of New Cumberland, Nicholas Cekovich and his wife Wendy of Mechanicsburg, Deborah Moyer of Steelton, Cynthia Barnes of York; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Joe in death is a brother Bruce Cekovich.
All are welcome to join Joe’s family for a graveside service at 2:30 PM on Friday, June 8, 2012, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery where military honors will be presented. Joe’s family invites everyone to join them at the Mechanicsburg Club (333 Heinz St.) following the service, from 5:00-9:00 PM, for a time of food and fellowship to celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to any local Veterans Center.
