Fishing at Worlds End -
Joseph Angelo Gall, age 84, of Camp Hill , died peacefully at home and surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Joe was born on Tuesday, March 11, 1930 in Nesquehoning, PA, to the late Michael Gall and Nellie (LaManchia) Gall. In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his sister, Jane Svetz.
Joe’s survivors include his loving wife, Betty Jane (Anewalt) Gall, whom he married on August 4, 1956; his three daughters: Michele Warren and her husband Bradley of Mechanicsburg, Joanne Gallo of Mechanicsburg, Diane Long and her husband Gregory of Mechanicsburg; his three grandchildren: David Long, Shannon Long and Adam Warren; and his sister: Teresa Kane of Lehighton.
Joe graduated from Nesquehoning High School; attended Penn State University ; graduated from the Allentown Business College ; and was proud of his service in the U.S. Marine Corp . He retired as a senior draftsman from Michael Baker, Jr. Engineering in Harrisburg after 38 years of service. His work on Penn State’s Beaver Stadium and the Indiantown Gap Helicopter Pads were a source of special pride for Joe. For decades, Joe’s greatest enjoyment was his fishing trips to Worlds End State Park in Sullivan County with his friends. The wonderful father that he was, Joe cherished the time he spent fishing with his girls and Saturday game night after church. He also shared his passion for fishing with his two nephews. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and cheering on his Penn State Football team. An excellent provider and a caring husband, he will be deeply missed.
All are welcome to join Joe’s family at his viewing on Thursday, June 12, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; and at his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd , 3435 East Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011; with Reverend Paul C. Helwig celebrating. Joe’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church immediately following the Mass. Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA, where full military honors will be presented. Honored to be pallbearers are: Joanne Gallo, Bradley Warren, Michele Warren, Adam Warren, Gregory Long, David Long, and Richard Svetz.
