Joseph “Joe” John Neville
Joseph “Joe” John Neville, age 62, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. Joe was born on Friday, February 10, 1961, in Norristown to Joseph Samuel Neville and the late Marie Elizabeth (Slotterbach) Neville. In addition to his mother, Joe is preceded in death by his sister, Marie Neville.
Joe’s survivors include his wife of 30 years, Susan (Henry) Neville; his three children: Brian Neville of Louisville, KY; Sarah Neville of Mechanicsburg; Alexandra “Ally” Neville of Mechanicsburg; and his sister, Sandra McCracken and her husband, David, of Gillett.
Joe graduated from Titusville High School as part of the class of 1978 and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Parks and Recreation from Pennsylvania State University and ultimately earned his Master’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University in Recreation and Parks Administration. From 1999 through 2007, he was the Legislative Liaison/Executive Policy Specialist for the Pennsylvania Game Commission. He then took on the role of Director of Bureau of Information and Education at the Pennsylvania Game Commission from 2007 until 2014. Joe was the Executive Director at Keystone Trails Association for six years, then became Director at Shippensburg Community Parks and Recreation Authority and was a consultant at Furnace Run Park in Southampton Township until 2022. He enjoyed being involved with the Mechanicsburg Borough Recreation Board and was always excited to make things better. Joe was also a member and former Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsman’s Clubs. He enjoyed guiding kayaking floats down the Conodoguinet, Yellow Breeches, and Susquehanna River for Susquehanna Outfitters and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, learning new things, reading, and walking his dogs in the community. A true family man, Joe loved cheering on his daughters’ at their activities and liked taking weekend travel trips with his wife. They went hiking and fishing as a family quite often. Joe will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joe’s family will be remembering his life privately. Interment in Silver Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Mechanicsburg will be at the family’s convenience. Cremation was private.
