Joyce Arlene (Harnish) Hollier

Always There for Family and Friends –

Joyce Arlene (Harnish) Hollier, age 91, of Mechanicsburg, went to be with the Lord while surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 20, 2018.  Joyce was born on Friday, April 30, 1926 in Arnold to the late John Joel Harnish and Louise (Thompson) Craft.  Joyce was the widow of Melvin Dennis Hollier, whom she married on November 27, 1946, and who died on July 10, 1994.  In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce is preceded in death by her five siblings: John Harnish, Ron Harnish, Marsha Chichinsky, JoAnne Wagner, and Richard Harnish.

Joyce’s survivors include her three children: Glenn Dennis Hollier and his wife, Linda, of Spring Mills, Kevin John Hollier and his wife, Jean, of South Lake Tahoe, CA, Kerry Ann Hollier of Mechanicsburg; her three grandchildren: Hilary Hollier, Justin Hollier and his wife, An, and their children: Amber and Alexander “Xander”, and Melissa Hollier.

Joyce graduated from Arnold High School as part of the class of 1944.  She retired from IBM in Mechanicsburg in 1990, where she faithfully served as a clerk for many years.  Joyce was a member of Shiremanstown United Methodist Church.  She was an excellent baker whose delicious creations impressed everyone.  Kerry Ann remembers her mother’s homemade fudge which was so good it would mysteriously disappear when her mother was not looking.  Joyce enjoyed canning, gardening, and ceramics but her true hobby was caring for others with selfless acts of service.  She was generous, kind, and had an unending amount of energy; Joyce was always there for her family and friends.  More than anything, family came first for Joyce.  She was deeply loved and will be forever missed.

All are welcome to join Joyce’s family at her viewing on Thursday, April 26, 2018, from 12:00 p.m. until time of casket closing at 12:45 p.m. and a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. all at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Rev. Dr. Brand W. Eaton officiating.  Burial will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.  Joyce’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the café next door to Myers – Buhrig following the reception.
