Judith “Judy” Elaine (Myers) Ramey, 72, of Mechanicsburg , died at Harrisburg Hospital on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, after a battle with cancer. She was born in Mechanicsburg, on Thursday, November 2, 1939, daughter of the late Elmer Elsworth Myers and Edith Elaine (Zeigler) Myers. Judy was the widow of Neale “Nick” Wyantt Ramey whom she married on August 26, 1961, and who died in 2002.
Judy graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1957 and from Shippensburg University in 1961. She retired from Barkleigh Productions in Mechanicsburg after which she worked at Gross’s Deli in the West Shore Farmers Market . Judy was a long-time member of Saint Peter Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg and a life-time member of the “grammar police”, as her children know well. She loved to teach children of all ages and had a special place in her heart for teenagers. In fact, she taught ceramics in her home for many years. Judy’s grandchildren were the apples of her eye and she never missed an opportunity to celebrate their lives and accomplishments. She enjoyed oil painting, gardening, reading and she was a huge Johnny Mathis fan.
Judy’s survivors include her loving children, Dana Ramey Goldinger and her husband Phil of New Cumberland and their children Sean, Ian and Becca, Ryan Christopher Ramey and his wife Danielle of Mechanicsburg and their children Helen, Amber and Rachel; her four great grandchildren; her sister, Marsha Neumyer of Harrisburg; her beloved dog, Chloe; and several nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to join Judy’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Thursday, September 20, 2012, from 12:15 until time of memorial service at 1:15 at Saint Peter Lutheran Church , 130 Nittany Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Pastor Naomi Sease Carriker officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville. Cremation was private. Judy’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Funck’s Family Restaurant immediately following the burial.
