Judy A. Morton, 83 of Upper Allen Twp., Mechanicsburg, PA, died peacefully Sunday morning, Nov. 19, 2023, at home.
Judy was a great wife, mother and Nina (grandmother) and is lovingly missed by her family and friends. She graduated from Central Dauphin High School as part of the class of 1958 and Harrisburg Hospital school of Nursing in 1961. Judy met her future husband John (Jack) of 62 years at Harrisburg Hospital, where she was a nurse, and he was an intern. She was known for her devotion to her family and friends. Which she expressed through her cooking, baking, crafting and other creative past times centered around the home. Judy made rainbow cakes, long before the major brands caught onto their wonder. They were loved by everyone within her circle. Her brownies, French toast, holiday pancakes, dinner rolls and grilled cheese sandwiches were just a small part of her home cooking hall of fame. One of her immense pleasures was quilting. These were treasured by those lucky enough to receive one and were prized because of her high level of craftmanship. She was generous with her skills and taught her family and friends the techniques that she perfected in her creative endeavors. She had a green thumb and could salvage any sick plant. She loved going to her girls and grandkids’ school events and supporting them. She was a volunteer at Messiah Village in Mechanicsburg, Meals on Wheels, for many years as well as a troop leader for the Brownies, a division of the Girl Scouts of America.
Born in Lancaster, PA on February 21, 1940, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Iva Olive (Buhrman) Brown. She was also preceded in death by her stepbrother Gary and her stepmother Clara Bea Brown.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 62 years, Dr. John Charles Morton, her daughters Cynthia D. Morton (Robert) of Odenton, MD, Keri Jo Morton (David) of Merrit Island, FL and Suzanne M. Morton of the Azores, 2 grandchildren Jonathan W. (Woody) and Kalyn Emma Kirchhoff.
