Such a Sweetheart -

Katherine “Kitty” Marie (Turner) Baker, age 94, of Carrollton, GA, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021.  Born on Sunday, April 4, 1926 in Enola, she was one of 20 children of the late John S. Turner and Vera Marie (Nicholas) Turner.  Her siblings include: John Turner, Ruth Nickey, Harry Turner, Dorothy Sanno, Earnest Turner, Peggy Zeigler, Leroy Turner, Tillie Fenton, William Turner, Bertha Belmont, Benjamin Turner, Nora Clouser, Donald Turner, Vera Clouser, James Turner, Nancy Taylor, Anna Mae Morrison, Barbara Stevens, and Bonnie Lou Turner.  Kitty was the widow of Lester “Bud” Eugene Baker, Sr., whom she married on March 22, 1947, and who died on October 23, 2011.

Kitty’s survivors include her two children: Lester “Les” E. Baker and wife Kandy of Carrollton, GA, Cheryl Baker of Middletown, PA; her three grandchildren: Garrett T. Baker and wife Logan, James T. Baker, Tywana N. Hall; her four great-grandchildren: Anthony Hall, Antiyana Hall, James Baker, Jr. Reggan Hoffman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kitty was a quiet and easygoing woman who loved gardening, cooking, and canning.  Family was extremely important and taking care of them always remained her focus.  She delighted in going to her grandson’s baseball games after moving to Georgia.  Kitty just loved animals; practically each day, she could be found sitting on the back porch watching the hummingbirds.  Everyone that met Kitty would describe her as, “such a sweetheart”.

Kitty’s immediate services will be private while family and friends are encouraged to remain safely at home.  Burial in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill will be at the convenience of the family.
