Kay’s survivors include her two children: Susanne “Sue” Sather of Enola, Robert “Bob” Rechel and his wife, Vicki, of Dillsburg; her two grandsons: Mark Sather and his wife, Nilda, of Mechanicsburg, Kyle Rechel of Dillsburg; her two great-grandchildren: Christina Sather, Nicholas Sather; her three sisters: Mary Bugbee, Ginger Weikert, Joanne Rickenbach; and several nieces and nephews.

Kay graduated from Williamsport High School as part of the class of 1937.  She was a member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg for over 70 years.  Kay volunteered with the Mechanicsburg Area Meals on Wheels by delivering nutritious food for over 25 years.  She loved to dance with her husband, Red.  Whether it was square dance, round dance, or swinging away to Big Band music, the couple danced to all kinds.  Kay enjoyed playing Pinochle and was an avid bowler well into her 80’s.  She was a good cook and baker.  She used the vegetables from her garden in her homemade meals as well as canning and freezing the produce with her husband.  Kay had quite the sweet tooth; she loved her candy and French fries.  She also loved going to garage sales and tending to her flower gardens, especially the roses.
