A Generous & Giving Spirit -

Kim “Kimmy” Valorie (Campbell) Tarrant, age 63, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at home on Tuesday, December 24, 2019.  Kimmy was born on Saturday, September 1, 1956 in Sewickley to the late Gerard “Jerry” Eugene Rice and Dorothy Elinor (Conway) Rice.

Kimmy’s survivors include her daughter, Valorie Ann Lauver and her husband, John, of Mechanicsburg; her two siblings: Curt Campbell, of Alaska, Jerri Lynn Campbell of Virginia Beach, VA; her two nephews; and her beloved dogs: Mya, Lily, and Precious.

She was loved by all of her coworkers at Walmart in Mechanicsburg, where she was hardworking and filled many roles over her 23 years of service.  Kimmy loved to tend to her flower garden and had a passion for collecting garden gnomes and dragon figurines.  She had a huge collection of both, which included two gnome themed Christmas trees.  Many people will remember her as a fixture at the Silver Spring Diner which they referred to as “Kim’s kitchen”.  She loved to win stuffed animals from the claw machine and then give those stuffed animals to children at the diner.  Kimmy was so happy to embrace her son-in-law, John, and welcome him into the family. She was delighted to see the pure joy that John brought to Valorie, when he came back into her life.  Kim had many pictures of her daughter, Valorie, throughout her home and thought of Valorie as her most precious treasure.  Her three dogs were like her children and she was just as devoted to them as they were to her.  Kim’s family, friends, and co-workers will remember her generous and giving spirit; and will miss her greatly.

Friends and family are invited for an open house time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory), on Thursday, January 9, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with time of remembrance to begin at 2:30 p.m.; with Celebrant Patti Vogl officiating.  Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of our parking lots.  Interment in Tri-County Memorial Gardens in Lewisberry will be at the family’s convenience.  Cremation was private.
