Kirk Wilfred Stanley
Kirk Wilfred Stanley, age 87, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. He was born on Friday, February 16, 1934, in Longview, Washington to the late Wilfred Burnham Stanley and Edna Pauline (Hockaday) Stanley.
Kirk’s survivors include his wife of 59 years, Nancy Lamar (Barkley) Stanley; his son: Craig Wilfred Stanley and wife, Melissa, of Etters; his grandson: Grayson Wilfred Stanley, currently stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio; his two siblings: Linda Sue Cassell of Austin, Texas, Kent Roger Stanley and wife, Clara, of Houston, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniels: Pepper and Speckles.
Kirk was born in Longview, WA, and moved extensively in his younger years with his military parents. This including spending many years in occupied Germany and throughout Texas. He graduated from Marion Military Academy in 1951, attended West Point Military Academy and the University of Texas. He continued his own military career & travels, thus meeting his wife Nancy in Albuquerque, NM. They continued the military lifestyle and moved across the country throughout his career. Kirk retired as a Chief Warrant Officer for the US Army and a Civilian Contractor from DDRE Susquehanna New Cumberland PA in 1992. He was a Veteran of the Korean War and was employed as a Logistician for the Department of Defense. His greatest passions were hunting, camping/travelling in their motorhome and shooting competitively with North-South Skirmish Association, where he served as the Central Virginia Regional Commander for two terms and as a Board Member for the National Rifle Association.
Kirk’s celebration of life will be held at Ft. Shenandoah, Winchester, Virginia in the coming months. Cremation was private.
