Kurt Jonathon Hendley
Loving Husband, Father, Brother, and Friend -
Kurt Jonathon Hendley, age 59, of Shiremanstown, and formerly of Mertztown and Mechanicsburg, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017. Kurt was born on Thursday, December 18, 1958 in Coopersburg to the late Harry Bennett Hendley, Jr. and Dora H. (Huls) Hendley. In addition to his parents, Kurt is preceded in death by his brother, David D. Hendley.
Kurt’s survivors include his wife of 14 years, Betsy A. (Enck) Hendley; his two children: Daniel “Dan” B. Hendley of Mertztown, Ashley M. Bellis of Shiremanstown; his sister, Merissa “Missy” Werly of Jacksonville, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Kurt graduated from William Allen High School as part of the class of 1976. He was a member of the American Legion Post #109 and the Mechanicsburg Club. Kurt was a big fan of the Philadelphia teams; he loved his Eagles and Phillies. He cherished his time hunting with his faithful bird dog as well as fishing with his son, Dan. Kurt was an honorary member of the Enck family which includes his four brothers-in-law and their spouses along with many nieces and nephews. He was also the loving son-in-law of Gary L. Foltz and Peggy (Olsen) Foltz. Kurt leaves behind many friends and family in the Mechanicsburg and Lehigh Valley area that will miss him dearly.
All are welcome to join Kurt’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Saturday, February 3, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend George A. Spangler officiating. Kurt’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the American Legion Post #109, 224 West Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, immediately following the service. Cremation was private.
