Larry E. Stroble
A Faithful Servant of God-
Larry E. Stroble, age 75, of Mechanicsburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 17, 2019. Larry was born on Saturday, September 30, 1944 in Williamsport to the late Quillis R. Stroble and Hughlene E. (Berger) Stroble.
Larry’s survivors include his wife of 28 years, Shirley A. (Schwartz) Stroble; his two sons: Michael Stroble and Joseph Stroble; his step son, David Cressler; his step daughter, Cheryl Sheffield; and his sister.
Larry graduated from Williamsport High School as part of the class of 1962. He proudly served in the United States Navy. He retired from Purina in Mechanicsburg, after three years of service working as a custodian. Previously, he worked as a nursing assistant for Leader Nursing Home in Camp Hill and later Bethany Village in Mechanicsburg, where he met his wife, Shirley. Larry was a long-time member of God’s Missionary Church in Camp Hill. As a young boy, Larry played little league baseball and has the very unique distinction of having thrown out the first pitch of a Little League World Series. Larry was a voracious reader, loved to complete crossword puzzles, and support his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Larry could speak several languages, including Spanish, German and Italian. A faithful man of God, Larry cherished the time that he spent in fellowship with other church members at prayer breakfasts and helping his pastor visit homebound members of the church. Shirley will greatly miss her “Papa Bear”.
