Larry Thomas Wagner

An Outdoors Kind of Guy -

Larry Thomas Wagner, age 65, of Steelton, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016.  Larry was born on Monday, August 6, 1951 in Harrisburg to Susan Pearl (Mellott) Wagner and the late John Richard Wagner, Sr.  Larry was the widower of Kathy Sue (Miller) Wagner, who died on April 12, 2006.  In addition to his father and wife, Larry is preceded in death by his brother, John ‘Dick” Richard Wagner, Jr.

Larry’s survivors include his daughter, Elicia Ann Rogers and her husband, Theodore, of Adkins, TX; his two grandsons: Justin Miller, Shane Roge rs; his mother, Susan Pearl (Mellott) Wagner; his sister, Sherry Groff; and his beloved 13 year-old beagle, Courtney Sue.

Larry was a member of Shepherdstown United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg.  He was a former correctional officer at Dauphin County Prison and Larry was a member of the Middletown Anglers’ and Hunters’ Club.  Larry was an outdoors kind of guy who loved fishing and having campfires where he could cook hotdogs and marshmallows.  He held many memories of spending time outdoors. Some of these included camping, fishing, swimming in the creek, and sleeping under the stars.  Larry was a guy’s guy who enjoyed being a member of gun clubs and collecting guns.  He was also quite the jokester and known as “Crazy Larry” to many of his friends and family.  Larry and his wife adored one another and even wrote each other love notes.  They are now together again and together forever; doing all the things they loved like hunting and fishing.

All are welcome to join Larry’s family at his viewing on Sunday, December 18, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Dr. Timothy R. Baer officiating.  Burial will follow in Wenksville Cemetery in Biglerville.  Larry’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Elkhorn Inn following the burial.

In memory of Larry’s life, the family asks that everyone goes fishing with someone and spends special time in front of a campfire with some hotdogs and marshmallows.
