Laural Ann (Abraham) Molin
Refused to Give Up -
Laural Ann (Abraham) Molin, age 61, of Mechanicsburg and formerly of Fairchance, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018 with her husband of 41 years holding her hand. Laural was born on Friday, January 18, 1957 in Uniontown to Mary Catherine (Dunham) Abraham and the late William Erwin Abraham. In addition to her father, Laural is preceded in death by her brother, Jeffrey L. Abraham.
Laural’s survivors include her husband, Michael “Mike” T. Molin; her two daughters: Jennifer Ann Molin of Doral, FL, and Mary Beth Molin and her husband, Mame Thierno Faye, currently residing in Monrovia, Liberia; her two grandchildren: Alioune Michael Faye and Penda Laural Faye, both of Monrovia, Liberia; her mother, Mary Catherine Abraham of Fairchance, PA; her four siblings: Linda Phillippi and her husband, Harold, of Isle of Palms, SC, David Abraham and his wife, Charis, of Tuscon, AZ, Lesa Guley and her husband, Anthony, of Washington, PA, and William Abraham and his wife, Diane, of Fairchance, PA; several nieces and nephews; and her two beloved feline companions: Angel and Joy.
Laural graduated from Fairchance-Georges Senior High School as part of the class of 1975 and from the Conemaugh School of Radiologic Technology in Johnstown, PA in 1978 where she studied to become an X-Ray Technician. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dillsburg and previously was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Shiremanstown. Laural and her husband were actively involved in both churches; she was the driving force behind St. Paul’s card ministry, visiting the shut-ins, and cooking meals for the homeless (Family Promise). The couple were also involved in setting up funerals at St. John’s and the Shiremanstown Adult Group Explorers (SAGE) luncheons. Laural had a big heart and she touched many people’s lives in a very positive way. She never let anything stop her and when Laural found herself feeling deterred, she refused to give up. Her desire to help others extended to caring for feral cats. Laural volunteered with a local catch-and-release program where she found a real love for the cats that she was able to help. Even while battling with systemic vasculitis, Laural would visit fellow patients of F.H.L. Blood and Cancer Specialists to provide emotional support. She was a great cook and loved nothing more than sharing one of her famous coconut cream pies, apple butter, or other homemade dishes with anyone in need of some love and nourishment.
The most important thing to Laural was her family, especially her grandchildren. Laural was a loving “Nanny” to Alioune and “Neenee” to Penda who she spoke to often through Facetime. She loved nothing more than a good game of hide and seek from 2,000 miles away. She never ended a call without letting them know that she loved them, “all around the world and back again”.
All are welcome to join Laural’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Saturday, November 17, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 South Baltimore Road, Dillsburg, PA 17019; with Pastor Glenn E. Ludwig who will be assisted by Pastor Sarah M. Keilholtz. Laural’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at her church immediately following the service. Cremation will follow and be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in celebration of Laural’s life can be made to F.H.L. Blood & Cancer Specialists, LLC, 6475 Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, to help treat patients without health insurance or those experiencing financial difficulties in their time of need.
