Laura “Nana” Elizabeth (Miller) Bare
Loving Mother -
Laura “Nana” Elizabeth (Miller) Bare, 93, of Mechanicsburg , and formerly of Cockleys Meadow , died peacefully at Holy Spirit Hospital on Friday, May 17, 2013. She was born in Harrisburg, on Tuesday, August 19, 1919, daughter of the late Oscar Charles Miller and Vara Alberta (Imboden) Miller. Laura was the widow of John Roy Bare, Sr. whom she married on April 6, 1939 and who died on May 2, 2007.
Laura’s survivors include her loving children, John Roy Bare, Jr. and his wife Shirley of Hershey, Connie Louise Zeigler and her husband Lee of Mechanicsburg; her four grandchildren, Robin Zinn and her husband Larry of Shippensburg, Jeffrey Zeigler and his wife Rebecca and their children Evan, Keegan and Kyle all of Harrisburg; Sean Bare and his wife Lisa and their children Catherine and Christine all of Virginia; Charity Bare-Schmiedl and her husband Ryan and their children Jacob and Gavin all of North Carolina; her brother, Charles O. Miller, Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Carlisle; and her niece, Sharon Gregg and her husband Stan of Carlisle. Among those preceding Laura in death are her great-granddaughter, Sara Restagno, and her nephew, Timothy Miller.
Laura graduated from William Penn High School as part of the class of 1937. She was a long-time member of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg. Laura worked with her husband at their business, Bare’s Garage , on West Trindle Road in Mechanicsburg for many years. She loved to hunt and fish with her husband and she enjoyed her flowers and her daughter’s dog. Laura was a loving mother and a wonderful grandmother who was known to many as “Nana.” She was a member and former officer of Eastern Star and a member of the Yellow Breeches Anglers and Conservation Association for whom she organized the Fishing Derby for years.
All are welcome to join Laura’s family at her viewing on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, from 9:30 to 10:45 and for her funeral service at 11:00 at Trindle Spring Lutheran Church , 14 State Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, with Pastor Richard G. Lorenz officiating. Laura’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the church immediately following the service. Burial will follow in Rolling Green Memorial Park in Camp Hill. Honored to be pallbearers are: John Bare Jr., Sean Bare, Charles Miller, Jeffrey Zeigler, Lee Zeigler, and Larry Zinn.
