L. Derick Hambright, 53, of Mechanicsburg , died at Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. He was born in Mechanicsburg, son of the late Walter Hambright and Claire (Derrick) Hambright.
Derick’s survivors include his cousin, Ginny Verne and her husband Lore of Middletown; a nephew, Austin Troxell; a niece, Kathleen Troxell; and best friend, Jack Prock of Maryland. Among those preceding Derick in death is his cousin, Janet Prock.
Derick graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1978, from HACC in 1981 with a Associate of Arts degree, and Penn State University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Social Science degree. He was employed with J.C. Ehrlich Company in Harrisburg with almost 20 years of service. Derick was a member of the Mechanicsburg Sportsman Club and the NRA. Derick was an avid gun and knife collector. He loved new cars, enjoyed target shooting and traveling.
All are welcome to join Derick’s family at his Gathering of Family and Friends on Saturday, November 2, 2013, from 9:30 to 11:30 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Cremation and burial in Mechanicsburg Cemetery will be private and at the family’s convenience. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
