Leonard “June” Harry Cramer, Jr.

An All-Around Athlete -

Leonard “June” Harry Cramer, Jr., age 78, of Mechanicsburg , died on Tuesday, November 3, 2015.  June was born on Friday, April 30, 1937 in Mechanicsburg to the late Leonard Harry Cramer, Sr. and Beulah (Kepner) Forney.  In addition to his parents, June is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Captain Adam Hench, and his step-brother, Edward Westhafer.

June’s survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Elizabeth (Steinour) Cramer; his five children: Dawn Fernbaugh and her husband, Lynn, of Mechanicsburg, Tammy Hench of Lancaster, Timothy James Cramer, Sr. and his companion, Laurie Wellman, of Carlisle, Russell Allen Cramer and his companion, Cheryl Braught, of Reading, Wayne Cramer and his companion, Alison Green, of Carlisle; his 17 grandchildren; his 21 great-grandchildren; his two brothers: Donald Cramer, Edward Cramer and his wife, Linda; and his two step-sisters: Carol Orris and Nancy Baum.

June graduated from Carlisle High School as part of the class of 1955, and he served in the United States Air Force .  He retired from the United States Postal Service after 35 years of service working as a mail clerk.  June was a faithful man who attended The Salvation Army .  He was also an all-around athlete from the time he was a young boy. He won numerous awards in Mechanicsburg Area Little League .  As an adult, June played semi-pro football with the Cumberland Colts and bowled with the USPS Bowling Team for many years.  He even played on a team with his sons in the Hampden Township Recreational Softball League .  June’s favorite type of music was bluegrass and he attended country shows every weekend with his wife.  He was particularly fond of seafood, and June shared his love of Dunkin’ Donuts with his friends, sometimes spending three or four hours there with them.  He had great affection for his dogs and was known for feeding his birds every day.  June adored his grandchildren, and his entire family will miss listening to his beautiful singing voice.

All are welcome to join June’s family at his viewing on Monday, November 9, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Major John Riley and Major Alma Riley officiating.  Burial will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard .  June’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House in Mechanicsburg immediately following the burial.

The family suggests memorial contributions to The Salvation Army , 20 East Pomfret, Carlisle, PA 17013.
