Lester “Les” Eugene Mayberry

Making His Journey Down The Line For The Final Time -

Lester “Les” Eugene Mayberry, age 77, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017.  Les was born on Wednesday, January 3, 1940 in Mechanicsburg to the late Lloyd Wilbur Mayberry and Helen Catherine (Zook) Mayberry.

Les’s survivors include his wife of 25 years, Patricia “Pat” Ann (Eshelman) Mayberry; his two daughters: Wendy Fisher and her husband, Randy, of Wrightsville, Lizabeth “Beth” Kranzel and her husband, David, of Shiremanstown; his two step-sons: Brian Eshelman, Todd Eshelman; and his three grandchildren: Ellie Kranzel, Kayla Fisher, Jeremy Kranzel.

Les graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1959 and he served in the United States Army Reserve.  He retired from AMP, after 25 years of service working as an assembler.  Prior to his retirement, Les worked as a salesman for Hartzell Motors in Mechanicsburg.  Les was raised in and was a lifelong member of Shepherdstown United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, where he used to play baseball when he was young.  He was a member of the William’s Grove Historical Steam Engine Association.  Les loved going to auctions, visiting Lancaster County, eating Pennsylvania Dutch food and stopping by local diners.  If you couldn’t find Les, he was either in Carlisle or Lancaster, i.e. down the line.  He was an avid fan of local dirt track racing and liked to bowl in the many leagues he was a member of.  Les looked forward to the Grangers Steam Fair every year at William’s Grove where he helped at throughout the years.

All are welcome to join Les’s family at his viewing on Friday, January 27, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until time of service at 7:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with The Reverend Dr. Timothy R. Baer officiating.

Burial in Mechanicsburg Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.
