Lester Leon Sheared, 87, of Camp Hill , died at Gino Merli Veteran Center, Scranton on Monday, November 5, 2012. He was born in Harrisburg, on Monday, June 15, 1925, son of the late John Waltman and Nellie Sheared. Lester was the widower of Dorcas (Mansbarger) Sheared to whom he was married for over 50 years.
Lester was an employee of Harrisburg Academy and formerly an employee of Blue Cross/Blue Shield . He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg. Lester was a US Navy WW II Veteran . He enjoyed hunting, fishing, breeding dogs and wearing Bolo ties. Lester was also a member of the West Shore Elks Lodge #2257 , Camp Hill.
Lester’s survivors include his loving daughters, Sharon Siedlecki and her husband John of Montrose, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Burrell and her husband Robert of Parkville, MD; a granddaughter, Kimberly Merryman; and two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Shannon Merryman, and siblings, Sandra Suggs of Conway, SC, Harold Smith of Harrisburg, Donald Smith, Herman Smith and Beverly Williams, and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Lester in death are his former wife Frances Sheared Wright, mother of Sharon and Jackie.
All are welcome to join Lester’s family at his viewing on Friday, November 9, 2012 from 12:45 to until time of service at 1:45 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Reverend Dr. S. David Simon officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Rolling Green Memorial Park in Camp Hill, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.
