Lester “Les” John Zimmerman, Sr.

Lester “Les” John Zimmerman, Sr., age 75, of Mechanicsburg, went home on Sunday, November 27, 2016, while surrounded and being comforted by his loving family. Les was born on Saturday, December 7, 1940 in Mechanicsburg to the late Clayton Zimmerman and Thelma (Keller) Zimmerman. In addition to his parents, Les is preceded in death by his two brothers: Ernest Zimmerman, and Cephas Zimmerman.
Les’s survivors include his wife of almost 42 years, Christine “Chris” Carol (Maxwell) Zimmerman; his five children: Denise Bonetti of Mechanicsburg, Shelly Rhoads and her husband, Chris, of New Cumberland, Tracy Miller of Mechanicsburg, Lester J. Zimmerman, Jr., Jessica Lori; his four grandchildren: Megan, Chelsea, Cassie, Devin; his two great-grandsons: Jack, Cameron; his two sisters: Freda Kauffman, Beulah Barger; and several nieces and nephews.
Les was the proud owner and operator of The Playground Bar & Grill which became Rumors Bar & Lounge in Enola. He spent most of his time at The Playground tending bar, cooking, cleaning, and enjoying his patrons. Anything that needed to be done could and often was done by Les. Along with working at the bar, he liked to watch football, especially Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Corvettes were another love of Les’s and he enjoyed driving the one he owned. When it comes to his personality, Les will always be remembered for his unique and slightly weird sense of humor.
All are welcome to join Les’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Friday, December 2, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George A. Spangler officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill. Honored to be pallbearers are: Randy Leach, Chris Rhoads, Devin Rhoads, Kevin “Bean” Smith, and Les Zimmerman, Jr.
